The BGMPO is responsible for maintaining and updating the MTP for its entire planning area which includes Alamance County and portions of Guilford and Orange Counties. The MTP outlines the MPO’s goals and objectives and addresses transportation related issues and impacts over a minimum 20-year horizon. The MTP is a federally mandated plan and complies with the Statewide and Metropolitan Transportation Planning regulations issued by the US Department of Transportation. The MTP is updated every five years, allowing BGMPO the opportunity to incorporate the most recent data, identify any changes in factors affecting travel demand, and modify policies, programs, and projects based on current conditions. This is an ongoing process, but the MTP update provides a platform for sharing updated information and ensures compliance with federal regulations in order to continue receiving federal funds to address the needs of the region. The 2045 MTP was adopted on June 16, 2020 after going through the public review process. View the Final Report and supporting documents
