The Piedmont Triad Regional Model Team (PTRM), led by Westat consultants, conducted a Household Travel Survey to obtain information on travel characteristics in the Triad region. The purpose of the Household Travel Survey, conducted every ten years, is to collect household demographic and travel pattern information. The data will then be used to update and calibrate the regional travel demand model for use in travel forecasting and transportation planning.

The survey took from a random sample of representative households within the region and adjacent areas. The survey area includes all of Alamance, Davidson, Forsyth, and Guilford counties and portions of Davie, Orange, Randolph, Rockingham, and Stokes counties. Respondents that completed the survey may be eligible for a small monetary incentive. The HTS questionnaire were distributed through webpages, a smartphone app, and mail or in-person upon request.  The Project Team will ensure that every resident has an equal opportunity to be in the sample.
